Hi, I’m Simona! I’m a graduate graphic designer from University of Portsmouth. I’m impatient to dive into the world of possibilities and full with passion to create ideas and solve problems. In my free time I love reading books and maybe this is where my interest in Editorial design comes from. I also like UX and Branding design and I have good team-working skills, solving problems and finding quick solutions under pressure.
For the Major Project in Graphic Design unit, I chose to work on the topic about the zodiac signs. With this project, I wanted to find out more about the history, the meaning of the signs, and how they are related to people’s personalities. I was asking myself questions like is it really possible to read someone’s future based on the stars and the movement of the planets or we are the only ones, who build our own future.
During my research, I found out that people have mostly mixed feelings and beliefs on this topic. Some believe blindly and they say their life changed after discovering the secrets of astrology and others don’t take the zodiac seriously. However, people still find the topic interesting and fun and they like to publish videos or memes in social media, related to how zodiac signs behave.
My idea for this project was to combine editorial design with UX design. I made a small book that has 64 pages, a mixture between small and big pages. The content of the book is about the history of the zodiac signs and information about every one of them (mythology, strong and weak sides, personality, colors, lucky numbers, stones etc.) At the end of the book, I also included a little bit of information about the Chinese zodiac. The purpose of the app is to provide a daily horoscope for
each sign and element.
