Hello, I’m Mara Green. I am a positive, passionate and outgoing individual, my design work focuses on educating people around current pressing situations with the aim to influence change and multiple outcomes for a safer and brighter future. I like to express myself through retro media and find my influences stem from the design trends of the 60s and 70s as well as from designers such as Alan Kitching and Grayson Perry. I love traditional print, and getting messy within my art motivates me. I am determined to one day shape a healthier world for future generations within my graphic capabilities.
Re-wilding Urban Communities
I am dedicated to protecting and preserving nature as well as providing new generations with resources to become great citizens. In honour of this I have designed an environmentally sustainable re-wilding kit, aiming to educate families and city dwellers on the importance of re-wilding on animal, human and environmental health. My kit provides the user with 36 homemade plantable sheets of paper, each sheet containing 3 to 4 seeds of a UK native wildflower. The aim for the user is to be able to plant these sheets of paper creating richer biodiversity and decreasing carbon emissions. The kit is also 100% recyclable and biodegradable as each element is thought through to make minimal environmental damage, making it an efficient gardening source. When opening the kit, the user has access to an educational book showcasing non-toxic lino prints of UK native wildflowers along with corresponding information including their scientific name, how they look, when to plant them and the conditions they need to grow in, then there is the fold out including the 6 wildflower Lino printed plantable sheets of paper which the user can pull out scrunch up and plant wherever they wish.
