I go by Joshua/AuraLink & I'm a passionate individual with great attention to detail and a desire to create everything to the best of my ability. I'm also a huge fan of gaming and pop culture - it has a massive influence on my style and I love creating work around it!
I specialize in motion design as I feel it allows me to be the most expressive and dynamic with my work; it feels like the possibilities are endless when incorporating movement into design! I even achieved an Adobe Certified Associate award for my motion skills in Adobe After Effects.
My personal design philosophy is to make work that is not only functional, but creatively engaging to the point where absolutely anybody can appreciate the work created.
This project is a response to the RSA 2020 “For The Long Time” Brief, creating a solution to the question of "How might we encourage people and communities to think and act for the long term?" Rootine is the all-in-1 tracking app to help you make better long-term decisions through gamification so you and your community can have a more sustainable future.
To combat global sustainability issues and short-term thinking I created an app that allows users to track their personal habits in order to form better habits, gearing them up for the future and helping them make better long-term choices.
Based on my research I incorporated elements such as gamification and community growth as ways to engage users to use the app on a daily basis so they can slowly form better habits that they will stick with over a long period of time. There is a lack of sustainability in most of our everyday actions; if we don’t collectively make a change and turn towards long-term thinking then the state of the Earth will only worsen, impacting younger generations the worst as they are left to fix the mistakes of those before them.
Rootine functions as a central hub for all long-term and sustainable decision making. By completing tasks, actively tracking your personal sustainability habits and progressing through the app you slowly form better habits that not only help you live more sustainably but also help the Earth and the community around you.
