CHRIS STEELE

I’m an extremely passionate, charismatic, and hardworking graphic designer. I began working in the graphic design field as a student in 2014, during which I received an award for best media student in 2016. More recently I have progressed by developing my experiences by creating Steele Design. This has enabled me to work with a variety of clients in producing commissioned pieces. I have honed my personal skills, such as commination and client relationships through my workplace expirees.

Listen to the Trees

Following the set tasks by ISTD to design a typographic piece, which should provide experiences that celebrates our human connection with nature. We were asked to study the Golden Ratio, how it connects to designing nature.

According to the United Nations, two-thirds of the global population will be living in urban environments by the year 2050. Those living in cities have a decrease in their interaction with nature and now, more than ever due to the pandemic people are spending much greater time indoors and are missing the many benefits that nature has to offer, such as, increase creative ability, reduced stress and overall positive wellbeing.

I wanted to keep the magazine neutral, as the trading cards were already catered towards a younger audience, I did not want to alienate older generations that would be interested. By keeping the magazine with a clean design, by using my own grid system, I was able to keep the content more focused on the information.
