ISTD: Silence is Golden
This project typographically celebrates the world of Silent Cinema through the experimentation and application of pure type to celebrate innovative methods of filming in the 1903 Western film ‘The Great Train Robbery’, produced by Edwin S.Porter. Analogue methods of production were used to create type as image, most notably scanning and photographing. The publication contains the timings at which each scene occurs in the 12 min film, providing the reader an opportunity to see the effects celebrated in action.
